Welcome to POP Youth Ministry!

If you're a teen looking for a place to be as authentic as God created you to be...you've come to the right place.  Life is tough, and it can be even tougher to go at it alone.  The Good News is that you don't have to...that is why were are here!  Let us introduce you to Jesus and then walk with you as we journey after Him.  There is more going on here than a three ring circus so check us out, find your niche, and hang on to your hats for a ride that will challenge you, convict you, and transform you.  Your parents won't recognize you, but they will like what they see...so will Jesus!

Youth Ministry Mission Statement:  Evangelize the youth culture by meeting teens where they are and bringing them into deep communion with Christ, His Church, and one another.

Feast Days - Where the Secular and Sacred Collide

Happy Feast Day of Saints Cyril and Methodius! Really...Happy Feast Day! Expecting another greeting on February 14th? Maybe one that contains candy, a cheesy card, or even flowers? Most of us out there have this day marked on our calendars as the day to remember our loved ones, shower them with affection and gifts, and do special annual things to mark what the secular calendar calls Valentine's Day. "Wait a second" you might say, "Valentine was a saint so this is a sacred holiday too." Well, maybe...maybe not.

e-Youth Ministry: Let the Blogs Begin!

Anyone reading this very first installment of our youth ministry blog space who is familiar with our vibrant youth program here at Prince of Peace knows that I am not the technologically astute giant on staff here...that title belongs to Dave and I will not be pushing him for that title anytime soon. But, my desire is to get out in the electronic trenches more where we often find the teen population spending both free and quality time these days. This is my commitment for 2012, to jump in, to write about current events that are relevant for today's teenagers, and to deliver it with a Catholic Church packaging which is often missing from most blogs and new's stories which are fighting for our electronic attention. I also hope that the many things going on in youth ministry each week can enter the discussion both to attract new folks feeling pushed to the fringes and to offer a glimmer of hope in the middle of the doubt being cast into our society today.
